ONE DAY ON EARTH follows an alien found on earth. As the alien navigates the first sensory experience of encountering the ocean, we are reminded of feelings of pure wonder and amazement.

Drowning Shadows takes place solely within the confines of a fountain. The dancer and at times the videographer fight to find movement expression whilst being splashed from every unexpected direction. The forces of the water create a physical limitation that dictates and challenges, and remind how little control one actually have of their environments. But as humans, we adapt- and when the fountain abruptly shuts off, the dancer still feels the weight in the echo and memory of the water, like a phantom limb. The shadow will keep on dancing, long after the water and the body have stopped.

Soundscape created by How Things Are Made (Brian Riordan, David Bernabo, Matt Aelmore).
“Out of Line” is a performance installation event that took place at Aileyan Accessories in Brooklyn, NYC on April 21 2018. Composer Chatori Shimizu and movement artist Yoko Murakami explored the hat shop as a space of process, construction, and destruction. The artisans of Aileyan Accessories collaborated in creating wearable pieces for the performers to push the boundaries between wearable arts and performance arts.

The Box is a fictional movie about a group of people who live in the box and never question it, except one Box tries to break the restriction one day... The "Box" here refers to our socially constructed cultural identity. Everyone has a box, to live in it or not is your own choice.

Under the Trump administration’s “Buy American and Hire American” policy, getting a work #visa in the US for international students and foreign workers is becoming increasingly difficult. They are presented with challenges such as finding a sponsorship company, a lottery and face strict scrutiny. #H1B

This is an opening video that I created for the celebration event of the 40th anniversary of US-China student exchanges at the Chinese Embassy in the United States in 2019.
40 years ago, China and the US restored the educational exchanges which have benefited millions.
The first group of 52 Chinese students started their journey in the US in 1979. Now in the 2018-19 school year, the number of higher education students from China in the US was 369,548, comprising 33.7 percent of the 1.09 million international students in the US.
The first group of 8 American students arrived in China in 1979 and nearly 330,000 American students have studied in China over the past 40 years.

This is a documentary about young Chinese people who embrace counterculture as their dream work. Li Guiye (Wedgecut's drummer), Kilo (Coser) and Li Yuyang (Locking Dancer) generously shared their stories with us.
This movie was featured at the first International College Beijing Film Festival in 2014.

"ccCyborggg" (2016), a music video explores the sound of cyborg by making the whole song driven by machine. Abandoning any real interest in form, pitch, or loudness, I portrayed a 2D/3D sonic cybotron "phuture" with human voice, Serge, Nord modulars and soft synthesizers.

This music video is a video collage made of all kinds of footage downloaded from Vimeo. I used the Cubebot toy to make stop motion animation for the first time. The music SEX DRUG INTERNET is my favorite song by New Pants, a Chinese rock band. I want to use this video collage to literately show how our life is all downloaded from the Internet, and everything is about sex and drug (love and death). It's Lacanian. It's a Mirror Image. It's the Society of Spectacles.

This is a rap song criticizing the bad effect of social media. Sometimes, social media might be the “perfect murder" tool when people post, spread rumors, and accuse others with irresponsible comments, which can lead to fatal results.

This well-known song What a Wonderful World is covered by a sonic diva called "Alice" from an online text reader website: fromtexttospeech.com. I used are Philippe Parreno's Anywhere Out of the World (2000) and One Million Kingdoms (2001). The female figure, AnnLee, is a Japanese character who is wanted to be free from the industry. When this "Alice who" sings about the "wonderful world", all you can see is this "AnnLee who" struggling in the digital world, which is also a metaphor for our cyber identity crisis.

New York-based Stadium Goods, a retailer and marketplace in the multibillion-dollar collectible sneakers industry, has launched a store on Alibaba’s cross-border e-commerce platform Tmall Global. The company is first offering its lower-priced footwear to China’s sneakerheads to gauge interest before moving into its big-ticket inventory. Cross-border e-commerce imports into China grew about 30% to 1.25 trillion yuan ($182 billion) in 2016 and will grow at a similar pace in 2017, said research firm iReseach.

The story of Chinese cuisine in the US is a long one, a tale of perseverance against prejudice that culminates in the Chinese restaurant cementing its place in the American culinary tradition.
That history unfolds in Chow: Making the Chinese American Restaurant, an exhibition designed and curated by the Museum of Food and Drink (MOFAD) at the museum’s “Lab” on 62 Bayard Street in Brooklyn.

China leads the world on mobile payments. While Americans are still using credit card, debit card, checks, cash, and a lot of apps to survive, Chinese consumers can enjoy their life with a smartphone only.

You might not hear any gunshot, but US has started war against China — the biggest trade war in economic history. Let’s see how this will affect you. Experts say the tariffs could cost the average American family $127 annually. For US manufacturers, the damage is more than just money.

Leading voices on China-US relations gathered in New York’s Asia Society on September 17, 2019 to discuss how the two countries should resolve their differences and advance their ties. The half-day event, "China-US Relations: 40 Years & Beyond", comes at a pivotal point in the relationship as a 14-month trade dispute has cast uncertainty on the relationship, which in the past 40 years has overcome countless challenges.
