Week 4: Translating affordance

For this week’s translating affordance project, I want to create a physical filter/ portable photo booth.

Personally, I’m a big fan of filters. I love taking selfies with filters on. Sometimes, the filter is so cute that I wish it’s real.

I love filters!!!

I love filters!!!

So I decided to create a tangible one with the recycled materials.

Since I don’t have enough cardboard to cover my face, so I am going to make a mini prototype for my Kaonashi toy.

First step: make a paper helmet

I calculated the size of my Kaonashi’s head and made sure it fits.

Second step: cut holes and make a cover & slot

The cover is to make the portable filter more like an all-in-one box.

The slot is for inserting different filters/faces.

Third step: draw filters/faces

Here I designed two kinds of filters: one for changing parts of the face, and the other one for changing the entire face.
